We note from the latest capital receipts programme update that the sale of Suffolk House in Totland has been completed for £360k.
We’ve mentioned it before, but it isn’t a building that we’re familiar with. A request for its “continued use of property as 8 flats,” was passed by Totland Parish Council back in June this year.
Eight flats for £360k? That’s £45k per flat. Does this make them the cheapest flats in the UK? Is that maximising capital receipts?
Further on the in the Totland meeting notes, Councillor Bryan obviously is switched on to other possibilities and put forward another future for Suffolk House.
The property is up for sale by IOWC for £360,000. If £40,000 were to be spent on the renovation of the 8 flats, they could then be sold to young local working residents for £50,000 to enable them to get a foot on the first step of the ladder.
What a great idea … but we assume sadly unlikely, now that it’s been sold.
We would try and get the IW council’s side to this, but as we’ve said many times before, the ‘communication’ department have cut off VentnorBlog from the whole council.
They’ve refused to meet with VB and have the meeting recorded. What do Claire Robertson and her ‘communications’ team have to hide?
We can’t work it out, but the democratic process is all the weaker for it.
