Suggestion of ‘Dogging locations’ for Ryde Interchange got a surprising reply from the council

The new administration at the Isle of Wight council have been telling the Island for several months that things have changed at County Hall.

If the response to one of the suggestions in the Ryde Interchange consultation is anything to go by, someone there clearly has as a very open mind.

On the long list residents’ responses to “Other Features Sought”, one suggestion was for ‘Dogging Locations’.

We expect the person making the suggestion didn’t expect to see the following response from the council though.

“Not precluded by scheme”
Paperwork published earlier in the week reveals the council’s response as:

“Beyond scope, but not precluded by scheme.”

Some of the other suggestions included a zone for skateboarding, fairy lights in trees, wooden seating rather than metal (which was too cold) and reducing pavement clutter.
