Summer Madness On The Wight: UPDATED

Like Madness? You’ll Love this news.

It was way back in October 2007 that we were asked to vote for our Most Memorable 2007 Festival Moment for the UK Festival Awards.

Summer Madness On The WightWho had been shortlisted for this award? None other than Suggs from Madness for invading Primal Scream’s headline set at Bestival.

We’re sure that the man will be far better behaved the next time he visits the Isle of Wight as his band Madness take to the stage in the shadow of Carisbrooke Castle. Or will he ;-)

Madness on the Island
Yes folks, Sunday 30th August is the date planned for a 5,000 10,000 capacity open-air gig being named ‘Summer Madness’.

(UPDATES: Now the information has been officially released, we’ve updated the details.)

It’s intended for the event to open its doors from 1pm 3pm on the Bank Holiday Sunday with entertainment running through the day and finishing at the rather respectable time of 10.30pm.

Madness On The WightIt’ll coincide with one of Europe’s largest scooter enthusiast rallies which takes place on the Island over the weekend. We’re certain that many scooterists are sure to make up the swathes of Madness fans who’ll descend on the Isle of Wight for the weekend.

The gig forms part of the 30th Anniversary tour that Madness are doing throughout the year but it won’t be all old tracks they’ll be performing – the British ska band might have been formed way back in the late 1970s but they’re still going strong today and producing new songs.

There’ll be plenty of support acts throughout the day along with a range of licensed bars, food outlets and merchandising stalls.

Tickets for the event will be priced at £35, but there will be a limited number of ‘early bird’ and ‘targeted’ tickets for just £28.

More details are now available – as are tickets for Summer Madness. to come soon about when and where you can get hold of these.

In the meantime, roll up your jeans and take lessons in the nutty boy dance to One Step Beyond …..

Or how about a little Baggy Trousers action?
