Even if you’re not planning to go to any of the excellent headline acts at Isle of Arts Festival, there’s plenty of more low-key events to take in. Gilly tells us about two happening on Sunday. Ed
Island Writers Literary Fair
Billed as the biggest pop-up bookshop in town, the Isle of Wight Writersʼ Fair, a book fest within a fest, celebrates books set on the Island, written on the Island and about the Wight.
Ancient murders, chilling ghost tales, novels, local history, childrenʼs stories, poetry, recipes – even picture books.
As long as thereʼs an Isle of Wight connection, youʼll find it here, together with a selection of Island prints and postcards.
Various local authors will be on hand to sign autographs, sell their books, answer questions and generally share their knowledge and experience.
Sunday 22 April, 14.00 – 16.00 Masonic Hall, Free

Men From Mars In Bumping Cars
Bodmin-based comic poet and singer Rob Barratt has established himself in the South West as a writer and performer of pithy poems and silly songs.
Rob spends a lot of time in a place he calls “Planet Barratt”, but occasionally he comes down to Earth to entertain audiences. He has also published his first book, Men From Mars In Bumping Cars, of his stand-up poetry with illustrations by Mike Jelly.
Rob performed impromptu comedy and poetry to much acclaim during last yearʼs festival and we are delighted to welcome him back.
Sunday 22 April, 17.00 – 18.00 Baptist Church, £2 on the door
