Following the torrential rain on the Isle of Wight yesterday (Wednesday), it’s not surprising to see Surfers Against Sewage reporting eleven warnings today.
The eleven warnings read “Storm sewage has been discharged from a sewer overflow in this location within the past 48 hours”.
Areas with warnings from Surfers Against Sewage include:
- Colwell
- Totland
- Gurnard
- Cowes
- Ryde
- St Helens
- Whitecliff Bay
- Yaverland
- Sandown
- Shanklin
- Ventnor
Other reports
The Environment Agency say “Bathing is not advised today” in Shanklin and St Helens.
Meanwhile Southern Water’s Beach Buoy service reports “Release to bathing site in last 72 hours” in Cowes, Ryde, Totland and Colwell.
They also report “Release to bathing site in last 24 hours” in Ventnor, and report “Unverified release to bathing site” for Whitecliff Bay, Yaverland, Sandown and Shanklin.
