Isle of Wight artist, Martin Swan, has an exhibition opening at Quay Arts this coming weekend.
The exhibition will be in three sections.
Historical
This will comprise work from the early days, drawings, sketches, paintings – showing how I learned the craft and developed a style.
Recent familiar
Some familiar Swan pieces – landscapes, seascapes, some abstracts, and possibly a few portraits of my hospital colleagues, showing how the craft learnt was put to work.
Recent unfamiliar
What the Swan on the River likes to do when he’s not doing the other stuff – trying new craft processes and producing less familiar looking work. For instance, coating a surface with safflower oil, painting into that with a trowel or brush, and letting the oil disperse the paint.
Where and when
A Swan on the River can be seen in The Clayden Gallery, Quay Arts, Sea St. Newport between Saturday 21st August and Saturday 4th September.
Entrance to the exhibition – which is open 9am-4pm daily – is free.
