Many of us will have come into contact with someone who has suffered the effects of Meningitis. This year, Meningitis UK are looking for volunteers to run in the Great South Run to help raise money and awareness for their campaign. This in from Emma at the charity, in her own words. Ed
We would like to ask any of your fitness-minded readers to run for Meningitis UK in this year’s Great South Run, which has become one of the largest and most popular runs in the country.
Full support will be given and everyone who participates will receive a free running vest or T-shirt, and a handy information pack including hints and tips on how to prepare for the event in Portsmouth.
Meningitis Musketeers!
Anyone who has already secured an independent place can choose to run for Meningitis UK and we would love for participants to become part of our Meningitis Musketeers team for the event on October 27-28.
We have 10 Gold Bond places, which guarantee people a place, but minimum sponsorship is £150 to ensure this entry.
Meningitis UK has a single focus – to find a vaccine to wipe out all forms of meningitis. Tragically, meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia continue to affect thousands of people in the UK every year and kill more children under five than any other infectious disease.
Search 4 A Vaccine Campaign
Our Search 4 A Vaccine Campaign aims to raise £7million to fund research into stamp out all forms of meningitis and associated diseases.
Everyone who runs for Meningitis UK will be part of the Meningitis Musketeers team, with the motto ‘All 4 One and One 4 All’ – to highlight the devastating fact that meningitis can kill in under four hours and the importance of our Search 4 A Vaccine Campaign.
