Red Jet Service leaving Southampton

Temporary Red Jet timetable expansion during seven-week East Cowes upgrades

Red Funnel will be providing additional late-night Ret Jet crossings on Saturday nights whilst the operator undertakes upgrades to its East Cowes berth.

Starting on Saturday 20th January and running on all Saturdays until 16th March, the following services will be added to the Red Jet timetable:

  • Red Jet departure from Southampton at 23:40
  • Red Jet departure from West Cowes at 00:15

The additions will provide foot passengers with an alternative option for travel to and from the Island while the essential works are carried out on the mooring arrangements in East Cowes.

Seven weeks of work
The work is planned to span over seven weeks, starting on 20th January through to 20th March, and will feature an upgrade to the fendering system which allows the operator’s vessels to safely and securely berth.

To minimise disruption, the works will take place overnight. During this time, and to allow specialist dive teams and on-site technicians to safely work uninterrupted, Red Funnel’s vehicle ferries will be unable to depart or arrive in East Cowes.

Late night crossings removed
This will mean a small number of late-night crossings in each direction will be temporarily removed from the timetable.

The timetable will vary depending on the day of the week, and a full temporary timetable is available on the website.

Lakes: We have strived to impact the fewest number of customers as possible
Leanna Lakes, Operations Director at Red Funnel, said,

“The safety of passengers and crew remains our priority, and we continue to invest in regular maintenance work across our operation.

“By completing the maintenance overnight and during our lower season, we have strived to impact the fewest number of customers as possible. Customers booked on affected crossings will shortly be contacted and offered an alternative sailing time.”
