Members of Ventnor Tennis Club are on a high this week after it was announced that the club was successful with their bid for a £50,000 grant.
The £50,000 will be heading their way courtesy of Sport England’s ‘Inspired Facilities’ scheme.
OnTheWight understands the money will be spent upgrading and refurbishing the 1920s clubhouse, turning it into a comfortable area for socialising and preparing food as well as providing showers and toilets accessible to all.
The Club have had a long wait to hear whether their bid was successful, it was submitted well before Christmas.
The next stage for the Club is to have architect’s plans drawn up and planning permission applied for.
The Club say that rather than disrupt this summer’s play, they’re hoping that work will start in mid-September.
