Ventnor artist, Teresa Grimaldi, who is currently ‘artist in residence’ at Quay Arts will be giving a gallery talk next Thursday.
Her exhibition, in collaboration with fellow artist, Irene Coates, explores the fundamental creativity through drawing and painting with other artists and you, the general public.
There are many interesting studies within the exhibition, one of which is an extremely long roll of tracing paper, onto which Teresa is copying all of her daughters sketches from over the last few years.
From memory, these are being done in chronological order to chart the progress of her daughter’s development.
There are many other interesting facets to the exhibition, so we expect the gallery talk will be very enlightening. Teresa herself seems like a pretty fascinating character too. At the moment, she’s working on a video artwork based on interviews with Captain Keith Hockney before he left the Island Furnishings (opposite Central Carpark in Ventnor), which is now, of course, the property of Tesco
