Thanks to Ray for details of this new scheme. In his own words. Ed
Local Charity the Footprint Trust is one of the first charities on the Isle of Wight to take advantage of an innovative way of raising money at no cost to itself.
Thanks to Vodafone The Footprint Trust charity is going to able to accept small donations by text and all the money goes to the local charity.
People don’t have to be a Vodafone customer – or pay for the service, thanks to Vodaphone’s sponsorship partnership with JustGiving. This allows people to donate quickly and spontaneously to The Footprint Trust using their mobile phone. They can donate £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 and £10 in a single donation.
There are no forms for them to fill in – and no need for them to give their credit or debit card details. When someone wants to donate, they simply send a text with a code.
Make your donation
The Footprint Trust’s code is FTUK22, so a donor can text ‘FTUK £5’ and send it to 70070 to donate £5. They are then given the opportunity to add Gift Aid – meaning the Trust benefits from an extra 25%.
Speaking for the Trust Ray Harrington-Vail said, “Sending texts is the new way to communicate”¦it is also an easy way to make small donations to charities. National appeals are using this method and its time that smaller local charities followed suit.
“The money from our donations will go towards expanding our Adopt-A-Garden scheme – enabling more uncared for gardens to be brought back into productive use”¦We are sure that young people will love the idea of helping an older person getting their garden cared for.”
