I realise this one is off the Island, but we love to support Island talent and this bunch of lads certainly have bags of that.
Yes, The Chancers play their first London gig on Friday this week. We caught their debut gig in Colwell Bay last year and couldn’t wait for the next at Ryde Theatre when they played with London based funksters, The Peas.
They went on to win the Bestival Podcast Competition last year, which resulted in them playing the Rizla tent. I’ve lost count of how many gigs they’ve done on the Island since, but it’s loads.
Over the last 18 months, they’ve built up a loyal following and I’m sure that many of you will be travelling up to London to support their first capital city gig.
Joining them on this fine night out will be another Island great, Hugo Frusslinky and with The Bees university gigs rearranged, it looks like Mr Tim Parkin will be getting things horny. [see comments below]
They’ll be playing alongside Louvana, the Super Imposers and Masters Of Disguise at The Grosvenor, 17 Sidney Road, SW9 (that’s Stockwell or Brixton tube stations).
If you can’t get off the Island for this gig, look out for future dates on the Island and be sure to check out their MySpace, there’s some great new mixes up there, as well as full details about Friday’s gig.
