The CQC have released another inspection report for The Croft care home in Freshwater.
Readers will remember that back in December 2012, the CQC took enforcement action against The Croft.
The report now released reveals that many improvements have been made, but that the care home still required improvement in the following areas:
People, staff and visitors were not fully protected against the risk of unsafe or unsuitable premises. The provider had not yet determined or completed action to address previous concerns about fire exit doors.
We have judged that this has a minor impact on people who use the service, and have told the provider to take action.
and that
Staff were receiving relevant training, however supervisions had not been occurring on a regular basis. Staff were not receiving appraisals.
We have judged that this has a minor impact on people who use the service, and have told the provider to take action.
Chairman: “Like a big family”
OnTheWight spoke to Patricia Foster, Chairman of The Croft, who said, “We are looking into all ways that we can improve things for our clients.
“We love our clients. We’re like a big family.”

Update 11.Jul.2013: The CQC Web-based report did not contain the the sentence, “We have judged that this has a minor impact on people who use the service, and have told the provider to take action.” After contact from Patricia Foster, we have now found that the PDF report did, so have now added this text to the article and a quote from her. We’re contacting the CQC to find out how this anomaly occurred.
