Local energy charity, The Footprint Trust is excited to announce that it has been awarded a generous grant for 1,000 thermometers to support Island residents in monitoring and managing the heating of their homes more efficiently.
This vital funding will help empower locals to take control of their energy usage, save money, and stay warm during the winter months.
A simple, yet powerful tool
With this grant, The Footprint Trust is introducing a simple, yet powerful tool: a temperature gauge that allows clients to easily assess whether their heating is set to an optimal level.
This easy-to-read visual cue ensures residents can confidently manage their heating and stay comfortable, without wasting energy.
Raising awareness of energy efficiency and sustainability
Petra Saunders, Senior Energy Guide at The Footprint Trust, said,
“We are thrilled to have received this grant and are excited to help residents reduce their energy bills.
“The temperature gauge is a simple but effective tool that shows whether your heating is too high or too low, making it easier to take action.
“Thanks to the fantastic support from Wight Aid, we can now provide this valuable resource to every client, raising awareness of energy efficiency and sustainability.”

Small lifestyle changes that lead to big savings
By using these temperature gauges, clients are not only able to monitor their home heating, but also make small lifestyle changes that lead to big savings. Reduced energy usage means lower bills, and every small step contributes to a more sustainable future by lowering individual carbon footprints.
Clients will now have The Footprint Trust’s contact details directly on their temperature gauge, making it even easier to reach out and access the help they need.
Support for all
Petra added,
“We want to ensure that everyone on the Isle of Wight knows they can contact us easily, whether it’s for help managing their heating or for more guidance on making their homes more energy-efficient.”
The Footprint Trust is proud to continue its mission of supporting residents with energy-saving solutions and raising awareness of services that can help make a lasting difference.
