This year at Ventnor Fringe Festival one of the scores of shows being performed in the brilliant Magpie Tent will be The Hippie Shakes.
The Hippie Shakes is a new piece of gig theatre set in the turbulent 1960s and 70s by award-winning playwright and director, Frankie Regalia.
Follow the fiery and funny Chickie
It is a distinctly female journey of motherhood, survival, extreme poverty, bereavement, and inter-generational cycles of abuse.
Inspired by a true story, The Hippie Shakes follows the fiery and funny Chickie as she struggles with her responsibilities as a mother, her cheating husband, and her desire for freedom.
Steeped in the music of the era
As her husband drags the family into the world of drug smuggling, the United States is going through historic changes. This play is steeped in the music of the era, featuring the sounds of Bob Dylan, Sonny and Cher, Santana, Janis Joplin, and more.
The combination of live music, storytelling, and dark humor create an intimate and memorable theatre experience.
