The first Community Pantry was opened on the Isle of Wight this week.
Joined by the Isle of Wight council Cabinet member for children’s services, Cllr Debbie Andre, Tuesday (26th April) saw the Mayor of East Cowes cut the ribbon to the new Community Pantry.
Pay £5 for £15 of food
With the rising cost of living, the Community Pantry Scheme supports people who are struggling to make ends meet.
Each week by paying just £5 they’ll receive in excess of £15 worth of food.
Keith Kite (pictured above), who was a volunteer, is now being employed by Community Spirited Cafe to run the pantry.
Spread the word
Jane Allchorn from Community Spirited Cafe told News OnTheWight,
“I would encourage you to spread the word as other community pantries are set to open soon.”
Where and when
The pantry is open Tuesday 1.30-3.30pm, Wednesday and Thursdays 10-1pm.
You can find the Community Pantry at Parkside Pavilion, Vectis Road, East Cowes PO32 6RL.
