Thanks to Ben for details of this event coming up next month. In his own words. Ed
The Earl Mountbatten Hospice is delighted to announce the return of the magnificent Newfoundland Rescue Dogs of The Newfound Friends. This is the third year that the ‘Newfies’ will be plucking fundraisers from the River Medina and pulling them safely to shore.
The Newfound Friends will be pitching up at The Folly Inn, Whippingham on Saturday 3rd September. They’ll be there all afternoon so please come along and meet these ‘St Bernard’s of the Sea’.
Honoured by Royal Life Saving Society
Newfoundland Dogs are perfectly suited to the water. Their muscular build, thick double coat, webbed feet, innate swimming ability and calm temperament means they are renowned for their lifesaving abilities. The Royal Life Saving Society has even honoured the dogs for their lifesaving skills and promotion of water safety.
The Newfound Friends have been raising funds for charity for over 21 years with their Rescue Dog Demonstrations and this event is a great, unique chance to get up close to these beautiful dogs.
The Earl Mountbatten Hospice is looking for animal loving fundraisers to don their wetsuits and cast themselves adrift in the River Medina to be rescued by the Newfound Friends. If you would be interested in getting involved with this great event please give the Hospice Fundraising a call on (01983) 528989.
Alternatively, information packs and registration forms for the event can be downloaded from the Hospice website.
