The Sky Is The Limit For Barnados Kids

Many thanks to the guys at Goodleaf for this report of what the got up to during half term. Ed

This February half term saw Goodleaf Tree Climbing start a new venture; working with Barnardos Ryde Extended Services, a programme geared to giving children the opportunity to take part in more after school, weekend and holiday activities.

Luckily the climbing took place on one of the sunniest days of the week and everyone had a great time.

Confidence blossoms
Even those who were uncertain at first soon found themselves scaling the 60ft Goodleaf oak tree, if only to get to the tree top hammock for a rest.

Becky Haydock from Barnardos said “Tree climbing is a wonderful unique experience that has encouraged team work and physical activity in the outdoors. It’s been brilliant to see the self confidence of the children growing as they climb higher and higher up the tree.”

With more tree climbing and even a tree climbing camp planned, both Goodleaf and Barnardos intend this to be the start of a long relationship.

Paul from Goodleaf says “We are all about providing a healthy, fun and challenging activity that encourages people to get close to nature. What better way to enjoy some winter sun than from the canopy of a tree.”
