Thanks to the readers who got in touch earlier today asking if we knew why there was a large police presence in Freshwater this morning.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman told OnTheWight,
“We can confirm armed officers went to an address in Heathfield Road, Freshwater, Isle of Wight this morning (Monday, September 23, 2013).
“Two men and one woman were arrested as part of a police operation. They are being questioned in police custody.
“The address at Heathfield Road is being searched for possible evidence.
“Due to other ongoing enquiries in this operation, Hampshire Constabulary is not in a position to confirm more details at this time.
“There is no information to suggest a wider risk to the community.
“Anyone with information can contact CID at Newport Police Station by phoning 101 and quoting Operation Part. The Mini-com number, which is used by deaf and hard of hearing callers, has changed to Minicom TextRelay 18001 101.
