Tim Johnson wins first prize in prestigious International basketry competition

Isle of Wight artist Tim Johnson has just arrived home to the Isle of Wight from Spain with another award under his belt. It’s of little surprise to us as we’ve always been hugely impressed with his basketwork.

Tim tells us that he’s honoured to have won first prize in the Contemporary Category of the the XV Fira Internacional Cistell Basketry Competition.

The award was for his newly created work entitled ‘Woven Path – New Direction’ made with his own home grown, split and painted Willow combined with Rush and Bailer Twine.

We’re sure you’ll agree it looks beautiful.

The competition took place at the Salt Basket Fair in Catalonia and he faced stiff competition from basketmakers from around the World.

Well done Tim, your work continues to impress and inspire.
