Isle of Wight Council’s Trading Standards service will soon begin a series of information and advice sessions on how to buy safely online.
Officers will visit libraries across the Island giving guidance via computers and also through display boards.
The first advice session is being held in Newport Library on Monday 20 September between 0900 – 1530.
Further sessions will be held at Ryde Library on 15 October, Sandown Library on 9 November, Freshwater Library on 29 November, Cowes Library on 18 January and Ventnor Library on 22 February.
The officers will give advice on how to review websites and check their origins, and also give guidance on using secure payment facilities.
The aim of the initiative is to encourage people, particularly those who seldom use the Internet or do not have access at their home, to purchase goods and services safely online.
