On Saturday 30th July at 7.30pm at Newport Minster and Sunday 31st July at 3pm in St Catherine’s Church, Ventnor, the award-winning Medina Community Choir will be giving its final two concerts of their summer season, before heading off on their sixth tour to the Loire valley in France where they have been booked to sing at Le Mans cathedral, among other prestigious venues.
Brear: “The choir has never sounded better”
Choir director Hannah Brear says,
“The Choir have been working hard, brushing up their gospel classics like ‘O Happy Day’ that are huge hits for audiences both here and overseas, but we’ve also added more contemporary numbers and iconic pieces from musicals like The Lion King and Dear Evan Hansen which celebrate life, hope, faith and love – key gospel themes.
“The choir has never sounded better and after improvising through the Covid years with online rehearsals, outside rehearsals and social distancing, it’s great to get back to singing together again. The joy is clear to see and hear. We think it’s going to be one of our most powerful and inspirational concerts to date.
“The concert is jam-packed with inspirational and uplifting gospel showstoppers, solos, duets and ensemble pieces, all stunningly accompanied by a stellar crew of musicians featuring James Longford on piano, Jon Thorne on double bass, JC and Kathy Grimshaw on guitar and violin, respectively.”
