Good news from Amazon World. Two of the four escaped raccoons have been safely captured and returned to join their sister who had not escaped.
The escape of the four raccoons has made national news and resulted in a huge search for the naughty critters who somehow made a dash for freedom from their enclosure on Thursday evening.
On Saturday morning, Amazon World posted an update to their social media page,
We are pleased to announce we caught one at approx 11pm last night (Friday) and she is back in an enclosure offshow with one of her sisters who didn’t escape the enclosure and we had sighting on another two in the zoo grounds. We have also had possible sighting of one in the Newchurch area.
Staff monitored and tracked the raccoons through the night. The two that were spotted onsite have now gone into hiding during the day, therefore we have scaled back the search team and we will regroup again at 4.30pm.
Special thanks to TrackADog team who helped us last night with the search.
A huge THANK YOU TO all the staff who worked late, worked through the night and came in early this morning to help and offered to help.
Then on Saturday evening, news of another captured raccoon was posted,
We are ecstatic to announce we have just caught a second Raccoon!
At 6.15pm we managed to trap her at the top of our parrot perches!
She is now in an enclosure offshow and once checked over will be put in with her two sisters who are also offshow (one of her sister who didn’t escape the enclosure and the one we caught last night)
We will continue our search through the night to locate the other two missing Raccoons.
A huge THANK YOU to all the staff, A huge team effort.
We thank you for all your support and kind words at this time.
