Under The Bed Sale IW raises more than £40,000 for Isle of Wight artists

Congratulations are in order for the organisers of the Under The Bed Sale IW, which has raised more than £40,000 for Isle of Wight artists over the past week.

The annual not-for-profit event, run by Fran Farrar, Fiona Schindler, Jill Wilkinson and Karen Mead, took place at Quay Arts Centre in Newport. This year’s sale saw increased footfall compared to last year.

Over 800 pieces sold
The event showcased work from more than 50 artists, with prices starting at just £5 for original and unique artwork across a range of mediums.

A spokesperson for the sale told OnTheWight,

“The not-for-profit event has further boosted the Artist community on the Island.

“Over 800 pieces of artwork from 53 artists were sold over the week of Under the Bed Sale held this year at the Island’s creative hub, Quay Arts.”

A boost for the Island’s art scene
The event has provided a significant boost for the local artist community.

Buyers travelled from across the Solent area, reinforcing the Isle of Wight’s growing reputation as a key destination for art lovers.

A thriving creative hub
Holding the sale at Quay Arts this year also contributed to a surge in visitors.

More than 1,000 people attended on the opening day alone, ensuring a busy and vibrant atmosphere in both the gallery and its cafe.

A future fixture in the Island’s cultural calendar
The event, which is entirely run by volunteers, was a resounding success.

Organisers believe it could become a permanent fixture in the Island’s creative calendar. We certainly hope so! Well done to all involved.
