As reported on our Facebook page last night (Thursday), Gunwharf Quays shopping centre was evacuated after an unexploded bomb was discovered on the harbour seabed.
The 500kg (1,100lb) device was located by a dredging barge carrying out works prior to the arrival of HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier next year.
Being detonated today
The Royal Navy have towed the bomb out to sea and it will be detonated this morning (Friday).
The effects of a bomb detonated off Bembridge last year were felt as far inland as Carisbrooke Castle Museum where the seismometer reported a pronounced spike.
Let us know if you feel it.
