Ventnor Town Mayor, Chris Welsford, was on hand to do the honours together with the Sandown & Shanklin Inshore Lifeboat and Solent Air-Sea Rescue helicopter.
Chris was dressed in his pirate t-shirt, ready to get into the buccaneering spirit of V-Bay!
The Solent Air-Sea Rescue team carried out a series of very exciting manoeuvres rescuing one of the Lifeboat crew from the sea, and winching him up into the helicopter, in a rehearsal of a routine that they are regularly called upon to carry out in earnest.
Thank you guys for all your hard work, and for getting V-Bay off to a great start!
