Thanks to Wayne for this latest report from the Vectis Isle Pioneers motorcycle club. Ed
The first stage consisted of the usual four laps of eight observed sections with no time limit. This stage also carried Championship points. Stage two required riders to complete another four laps of the same eight observed sections – this time with a time limit of just one hour.
The final stage was an enduro style speed course where riders had an hour to complete as many laps as possible. The overall results are determined by adding together the riders scores from the first two stages then deducting their completed third stage lap tally.
The overall winner was Nick Symes, on his Twin Shock Honda. Nick finished 11 points ahead of Novice rider Wayne Brodie with Stuart Gummer in third. It was Andy-Scott Jackson who set a new lap record, completing an amazing 23 laps on the third stage. Andy was concentrating so hard he didn’t see the marshal signalling the end of stage three and carried on for another lap!
Championship
The Youth classes were headed up by Jos Wright (Youth Expert) with another great performance. Brendon Penn took maximum points in the Youth Easy class, dropping just a single mark – good effort. In the Youth over 80 class, it was Will Gray-Ling, in just his second ever trial, who took the points with a loss of 22 for the day. Harrison Crickmore put in a great ride in the Youth E group of riders to finish ahead of Luke Snow and Dylan Wright who finished second and third respectively.
Adam Brodie was the only Expert rider today but despite riding unopposed posted an excellent score on the hardest route. The Clubman class was taken by Stuart Gummer from Andy-Scott Jackson, just two marks separating these two. Brothers Mike & Geoff Taylor finishing in third and fourth places.
The Twin Shock class proved to be a very close fought contest. It was overall winner Nick Symes that took the win from Stewart Freeman, both riders finishing on the same score – Nick travelled the furthest with the least marks lost. Another close contest in the Novice class saw Paul Kent & Brian Brockwell tied for first place – their scores were identical and so both riders earned maximum points. Andy Gray-Ling took the Adult Beginners with a confident ride in only his second trial.
Thank you
The Club would like to thank Roger Morgan for allowing us to hold this unique event at his fantastic venue.
A very big thank you should also go to Howard Jacobs and Adam Brodie who between them set eight excellent sections. Christine Jacobs did a marvellous job of keeping us topped up with tea and coffee, burgers from the BBQ and of course for the results.
