VentBag: Make A Bag, Make A Change RNLI Saturday Session (podcast)

VentBag: Make A Bag, Make A Change RNLI Saturday SessionAs promised, we dropped over to the RNLI in Ventnor on Saturday to see how Sheila and Angie were getting on with their Make A Bag, Make A Change bag making session in the front windows of the RNLI in Ventnor.

Not only did it attract considerable attention from those passing in the street, but lots of them came in to buy things from the RNLI, so they could qualify for their own free bag. Others also donated further money by-way of appreciation.

The volunteers had already built up a stock of 60 bags at the start of the day, lucky really as they ended up distributing over 110 bags during just one day!

By way of an example, while we were there, an enthused bag fan came in and picked up four bags – so she could send them around the country to spread the message – donating generously for them.

You can help too
If you’re feeling the urge to join up and get producing bags, there’s a further opportunity all this week, as Leslie, from The Ventnorian, has kindly offered space at the back of her shop with two sewing machines provided.

If you’re not able to help with sewing this week, perhaps you might have some material that could be used for bags; thread to sew them together; or provide a hand sewing machine, to able to the bag makers to sew in the outside air, at various outdoor Island events over the year.

Either drop them off to the Ventnorian; contact VentBag or us and we’ll can get a message to them.
