TOURING TEAMS DEFEATED

The Southern League Division 1 side looked well placed for victory at 185-5 but the dismissal of Trevor Pittman (71) and Rob Wade (37) triggered a collapse, David Beven’s excellent spell of leg spin returning 5-17 as the last five wickets fell for just six runs.

Nono Pongolo impressed with 54 for Ventnor but it was an unbroken last wicket partnership of 44 between teenagers Barney Tyler (22 not out) and Marcus Toms (19 not out) which enabled the home team to reach 181-9 from 40 overs.
Matt Journeaux with 57 top scored for the visitors but two wickets apiece for David Beven (2-41) Caleb Whitefield (2-30) and James Cheek (2-40) helped dismiss them for 161.
