This Thursday sees another local election take place in Ventnor.
There are three candidates standing for the vacancy created by Joan Garlick’s resignation in Ventnor East.
No doubt you will have received a leaflet or knock on the door from either Harry Rees, Gillian Jenner or Jason Mack over the last few weeks, providing you with the information needed to help you make your choice.
Voting
Don’t forget to vote on Thursday at your usual polling station between 7am and 10pm. We’ll be reporting the results once the count is complete.
If you haven’t received a polling card, you can still vote. Just turn up and give your name and address.
Position possible by co-option
As we reported last week, there is also a space in the same ward that is up for grabs by co-option.
This follows the resignation of Brian Lucas and given not enough residents requested an election, the council have to fill the space by co-option.

Other vacancies
There are more vacancies available in other wards. The VTC are keen that elections are held to fill these vacancies, but can only do so if 10 or more people request an election.
