Ventnor Film Society: The Tomboy Screening Tonight

If you fancy a bit of culture tonight why not head to the Ventnor Film Society screening of Celine Sciamma’s, The Tomboy.

Starting at 7.30pm prompt at St Francis Primary Upper School (formerly St Boniface Primary) Sciamma’s new film is a small-scale piece, directed with a light touch.

Zoe Heran plays Laure, a 10-year-old girl who arrives with her family one summer in a new town.

Laure is a tomboy, with short hair and boys’ clothes.

One local girl, Lisa (Disson) thinks she’s a boy. Laure plays along with the misunderstanding. Her younger sister is also greatly enamoured of the fantasy of a tough, protective older brother.

Tickets are just £5.

“Seek a fresh mandate from the public…” Wouldn’t that falsely suggest that there was a mandate there in the first place?

“Preparations for the two-tier change will continue apace..”

Despite the fact that Steve Beynon has recently admitted that the reforms could not guarantee an improvement in standards! Terrific…

It must be summer out come the Flip-Floppers!

I just hope no children are hurt as the Tories run round like headless chickens!

Surely waiting only adds more worry to all the Islands children and parents. It will not do you any favours with Island people, we have all got used to the idea of the change from 3 to 2 teir lets get on with it.

I haven’t got used to it! I’ve yet to see a persuasive argument in favour of disrupting the entire system, even if there was the money to do it.
