The Isle of Wight is blessed with some fantastic beaches and Ventnor is no exception.
Once again, this small bay at the bottom of the Isle of Wight features in a list of recommended beaches to visit.
The Sunday Times rated Ventnor the 23rd best beach in the UK.
They say,
Ventnor’s relative remoteness – it’s right at the bottom of the Isle of Wight – has preserved its charm; sparing it from the commercialism that would blight a similarly blessed beach on the mainland.
Everything is a little bit amateurish here, from the wonderful longshoreman’s museum, run by the Blake family, who have been renting out deckchairs here since the time of Queen Victoria, to the slightly absent-minded service at the Spyglass Inn, one of the best-sited seaside boozers in the country.
If you have a Times subscription you can pop over to The Times to find out which other beaches appear on the list.
