Following a very successful charity rugby match against the Wasp Legends, Ventnor Rugby Club presented a cheque for £4,000 to speech, language and communications charity, St Catherine’s.
As Stuart Babington, Club Chairman said, “The day was a great success for both charities and for Ventnor Rugby Club, the town & indeed the Isle of Wight. VRFC are happy to be linked with St Catherine’s and everything they do and will continue to support them in the future.”
Rachel Thomson, Head of Business & Charity for St Catherine’s added, “We would like to thank Ventnor Rugby Club for such a generous donation, which will support the purchase of specialist equipment and our vocational training unit, The Worx. The match against the Wasps Legends was such a fantastic day and something that St Catherine’s was very proud to be part of.”
The donations from the charity match were spilt between St Catherine’s and The Richard Engelgardt Trust, which supports Richard Engelgardt who was severely paralysed in a rugby training session and whose brother, Bob plays for Ventnor Rugby Club.
