It was fantastic to see that the renovation work on Villa Amanti on Ventnor’s seafront picked up a conservation award last week.
The Isle of Wight Society Conservation Awards were held at Northwood House on Friday when owners of the beautiful villa, Simon and Julia Walters, picked up the Isle of Wight Conservation Award for 2011 in recognition of their ‘sensitive restoration’ of Villa Amanti.
Many will have followed the transformation that the former orange and yellow villa has undergone over the last couple of years.
Shining example
The owners have taken the villa back to its former glory. Layers and layers of paint have been sandblasted from the exterior walls. Windows and doors replaced with alternatives sensitive to the conservation area and wrought iron railings on the boundary wall installed.
We love what they’ve done and are really pleased to hear that their efforts have been recognised.
