General Secretary of the RMT union, Bob Crow, came down to the Island for a second time to speak to the supporters of the Vestas sit-in (
Here’s his previous speech of Bob Crow).
It was pouring with rain at the time, but despite this many people were there to listen.
He called for all trade unionS that are members of the TUC to join in the support (Unison and the PCS have already show support).
Prisoner Officers Association
He announced the RMT had a meeting with the Prisoner Officers Association, who are giving full support. They say that if those inside at the Vestas Sit-In aren’t treated properly with food, the POA will start exposing how you get looked after if you’re a criminal and how you get looked after if you’re protesting.
He continued that no-one would have known about the factory closing if there hadn’t been the sit-in.
There was a call for the UK government to backup its claims of being a green government by keeping the Vestas factory building wind turbines, even if it’s not by them.
Courage more contagious that fear
His closing rally, “Fear is contagious, but the one thing more contagious is courage.”
Brilliant timing lead to the speech finishing when the plane flew over with a message for the workers
Focus was a bit soft on this one – sorry.
