Fiona Harvey, the Environment Correspondent for the Financial Times reports online tonight that the campaign to save 500+ jobs at the wind turbine blade factory in Newport has been hit with a lethal blow.
Her article reports that the British Wind Energy Association announced this weekend that ‘the market for onshore wind turbines in the UK was “too small to sustain a UK-based factory in the long term”.’
This is not good news for the Green Party who last week submitted a rescue plan proposal for the factory to the Isle of Wight Council (more to come on this later).
