A section of Alpine Road in Ventnor has this morning been struck with water gushing out at a very fast rate.
The incident has taken place at the junction of Alpine Road, Church Street and Belgrave Road.
The water is flowing pretty quickly down Belgrave Road and forming a pool in the dip, which looks like it may make it difficult for cars to pass before long.
Island Roads have confirmed that Southern Water are on their way to respond and advise drivers to take extra care.
Update: 12.08:
A Southern Water spokesman said:
“We are fixing a burst four-inch water main in Alpine Road, Ventnor.
“About 40 properties are without water but we have knocked on doors and delivered bottled water.
“Supplies are expected to return in a couple of hours and we apologise for the disruption this may have caused.”
Thanks to Phil Helps for the heads-up.
