Wayfarers Randonnee on the Isle of Wight raises £12,000 for local charities

The Wayfarers Annual Randonnee which took place on Sunday, 5th May, raised significant funds for local charities. Organisers of the event recently presented cheques to the beneficiaries during a special ceremony.

In total, the event raised £12,000. The funds were evenly distributed among four deserving charities: Sight for Wight, Isle Access, Wessex Cancer Support, and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Local schools support with refreshments
The local schools’ Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) contributed further to the cause. They provided refreshments at various checkpoints along the route, helping to raise additional funds.

The annual event, which attracts a wide range of participants, continues to be a vital source of support for local organisations. The cheques presented will assist the charities in continuing their essential work within the community.

Community engagement and support
The success of this year’s Randonnee highlights the strong community spirit on the Isle of Wight. Participants, volunteers, and supporters all played a crucial role in making the event a success.

Organisers expressed gratitude for the community’s involvement and the positive impact of the funds raised. The event not only brings people together, but also provides valuable resources to charities that support residents in need.
