Yokogawa Marex’s Divisional Director, Wayne Matthews, managed to raise over £280 for the charity last week when he went for his first hair cut since February 2020.
Wayne decided to part with his lockdown locks to raise money for Mountbatten that provided care for his mother-in-law, Mrs Josephine Blanchard, who recently passed away after fighting a long battle with cancer.
Matthews: Mountbatten staff do a wonderful job
Wayne said,
“Mountbatten staff do a wonderful job and provided loving care and support during such a difficult time to my family, so I decided the time was right to have my hair cut.
“I was also being energetically encouraged by fellow members of Newport Golf Club, who have donated generously for such a worthy cause.”
Little Princess Trust
Wayne’s lockdown locks were cut by hairdresser Faye Courage of FC Hair Studios in Northwood Business Park. Faye donated her services for free.
The hair was plaited and has been donated to the Little Princess Trust, who do great work providing wigs to young people with cancer.
The money was raised by staff at Yokogawa Marex and members of Newport Golf Club.
Support for former colleagues
Wayne added,
“The Hospice also provided great support to two former colleagues, Steve Jones and Neil Brock, and with Walk the Wight on Sunday it was another good reason for the hair to go.
“Everyone on the Island knows of Mountbatten’s great work and, with the support of colleagues at Yokogawa and Newport Golf Club, I am really pleased to have been able to raise money for them.”
