An Island Line spokesperson said: “Our engineering team is facing an exceptional flooding situation in Ryde tunnel. Further emergency pumps are in place to help to speed up the process of clearing the water.

“We would like to thank our passengers for their understanding and apologise for the inconvenience caused by this exceptional flood. Further updates will be provided for our customers as soon as new information becomes available.”

Roads
Ashey Lane on the outskirts of Ryde is currently closed due to a fallen tree. However contractors are on site working to remove the tree and the road should be open by 8am.

East Ashey Lane is now open.

Contractors have been called to Undercliff Drive, St Lawrence, near a property called Woodlands, to investigate reports of a tree leaning into the highway.

The council advise, “A tree reported to be leaning into the highway near a property called Woodlands on Undercliff Drive, St Lawrence was removed by contractors without the need for road closure.”

Surface water is being reported on many roads, so make sure you take it carefully.
