Deaths
The Office for National Statistics report three new deaths took place, 1 in a care home, 1 at home and 1 in hospital during week 15 (deaths that occurred up to 15th April 2022, but were registered up to 23rd April 2022).
As of 15th, the cumulative number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate on the Isle of Wight was 412 – up 6 in the last two weeks.
As of 27th April 2022, the Government Dashboard records the total number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test was 384 – up 9 since last week.
Covid patients in hospital
The Covid dashboard shows that as of 19th April the number of Covid-19 patients in hospital was 35.
The Government dashboard also reports none of those Covid patients are relying on mechanical ventilation.
Vaccinations
The number of Covid-19 vaccinations given on the Isle of Wight totals 313,931.
The total number of people who have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 26th April 2022 was 113,753.
The total number of people who have received the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 26th April 2022 was 108,729.
The total number of people who have received a booster or third dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 26th April 2022 was 91,449.
Confirmed positive cases
The latest confirmed data for the number of new positive Coronavirus (Covid-19) tests over seven days (20th-26th April) on the Isle of Wight totals 210 – a rate per 100,000 population of 148.94.
29 of those are thought to be reinfections (ie. people who have had Covid before and caught it again).
The cumulative total since the pandemic began now stands at 40,156– a rate per 100,000 population of 28,479.43.

Symptoms
The main symptoms of Coronavirus are:
- a high temperature
- a new, continuous cough
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
Other symptoms linked with Covid-19 include shortness of breath, fatigue, loss of appetite, muscle ache, sore throat, headache, stuffy or runny nose, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting. Any of these symptoms may also have another cause.
