In the last week (19th-25th January 2022) the number of new positive Coronavirus (Covid-19) tests on the Isle of Wight totalled 942 – a rate per 100,000 population of 668.09.
The cumulative total since the pandemic began now stands at 25,961 – a rate per 100,000 population of 18,412.06.

Deaths
The Office for National Statistics report two new deaths during week 2 (deaths that occurred up to 14th January, but were registered up to 22nd January 2022), one in hospital and one in a care home.
As of 14th January, the cumulative number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate on the Isle of Wight was 368, up four from last week.
As of 25th January 2022, the Government Dashboard records the total number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test was 334, up seven from last week.
Covid patients in hospital
The Covid dashboard shows that as of 18th January 2022 there were 24 patients being treated for Covid-19 at St Mary’s hospital. Up two from last week.
The Government dashboard also reports three patients are relying on mechanical ventilation, up one from last week.
Vaccinations
The number of Covid-19 vaccinations given on the Isle of Wight totals 308,958.
The total number of people who have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 23rd January 2022 was 113,209.
The total number of people who have received the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 23rd January 2022 was 107,038.
The total number of people who have received a booster or third dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 23rd January 2022 was 88,711.

Test results for those from the mainland using the IW Test Centre are not included in the figures for the Island.
Only get tested on the Island
Residents are reminded that tests are available for those with Covid-19 symptoms and to ensure you are tested on the Isle of Wight.
The main symptoms of Coronavirus are:
- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
- Most people with Coronavirus have at least one of these symptoms. Book via the NHS.
Delta variant
Symptoms of the Delta variant have been described in the ZOE Symptom App as:
- Headaches
- Sore throats
- Runny noses
- Fever
Omicron variant
Symptoms of the Omicron variant have been described in the ZOE Symptom App as:
- Runny nose
- Headache
- Fatigue (mild or severe)
- Sneezing
- Sore throat
