Many thanks to Stuart George from the Isle of Wight Bus Users Group with details of forthcoming changes to services on the Island. Ed
Last month Island Line retimed the 2045 train from Ryde to arrive five minutes earlier at Shanklin at 2108, allowing passengers to connect on to the service 3 bus to Ventnor & Wroxall.
From this Sunday Southern Vectis are retiming the 2240 & 2340 service 3 buses from Ryde to Ventnor & Wroxall to leave Ryde 15 minutes later every day so that they will connect with the catamarans from Portsmouth.
Passengers will then be able to leave Waterloo or Portsmouth an hour later than at present at 2130 & 2315 respectively.
Fastcats leaving at 47mins past
Also, from next Monday, Wightlink are retiming the catamarans that currently leave Ryde at 45 mins past each hour to leave two mins later at 47 mins past the hour to allow Island Line passengers time to make the connection.
Weekly evening service Shorwell, Brighstone & Brook
Another improvement from Monday is that Shorwell, Brighstone & Brook regain a weekday evening bus service, with an extra bus at 1908 from Brook Chine to Newport and buses at 1840 & 2210 from Newport to Brook Chine.
Diversion for no.6
Finally, with the closure of Alpine Road in Ventnor from Monday 10 January till Friday 21 January, service 6 buses won’t be serving the Old Rex Cinema stop.
It’s not clear where the service 31 will be diverted.
