Wessex Cancer Support seeks unwanted Christmas gifts for upcoming fundraising raffles

A local cancer charity is collecting unwanted Christmas gifts to aid its fundraising activities.

Wessex Cancer Support is keen to replenish its stock of raffle prizes ready for this year’s events programme.

Any new, unwanted gifts can be donated to the charity at its Newport support centre, Freshwater shop or at Asda, Morrisons and Tesco supermarkets.

Honey: Ideally we are looking for small items
Kate Honey, Supporter Engagement Officer at Wessex Cancer Support, said,

“Raffle prizes are always high in demand and we need a good selection for various events we are planning this year.

“Ideally, we are looking for small items like boxes of chocolate, bottles of wine, small homeware items and toiletries, all of which we can easily transport.

“If you have anything that may not fall into these categories but feel it could still be of use to us, we would be very happy to consider it.”

Donation points
Donation points for unwanted gifts can be found at the area at the end of the tills of Tesco Extra, Ryde,  Asda, Newport, and Morrisons Lake and Newport. Gifts can be donated at these locations until 30th January 2025.

Beyond the end of January, the charity will happily accept donated items at its Freshwater shop, located at Moa Place, and its support centre on Lugley Street, Newport.

Kate added,

“Across the year, raffles make a huge difference to our fundraising efforts, so they will be really well received and help us to continue supporting local people with cancer who need us.”
