West Wight hustings: A platform for community dialogue on net zero goals

The Isle of Wight community is invited to engage with local electoral candidates on the pressing issues of sustainability and climate change.

West Wight
West Wight hustings will take place on Wednesday 26th June at the Isle of Wight College in Newport. The event will also take place from 18:30 to 20:30.

Please note that East Wight hustings took place on 14th June.

A crucial opportunity to hear directly from candidates
The Island has significant local power in areas such as housing building regulations, active transport policy, renewable energy consenting policy, local food use in schools and hospitals, and support for the Island’s net zero 2040 strategy.

These events offer a crucial opportunity for residents to hear directly from candidates about their plans to address these vital issues.

Final confirmations being arranged
Most candidates for both constituencies have agreed to attend, with final confirmations currently being arranged.

This is a chance to engage directly with those who may shape the future of our community. For more information, please visit the website.

Together for Mission Zero
Both hustings events are organised by Together for Mission Zero, a decentralised platform designed to connect, share, discuss, and build a community focused on achieving a net zero, nature-positive, and thriving society.

Their approach remains apolitical; the objective behind these events is to facilitate a debate among candidates about issues that matter to the community and beyond.
