There has been success in and out of the ring for fighters from the Komodo Dragon Kickboxing Club.
Ten members demonstrated their skills and fitness to achieve belts at a grading at the West Wight Sports Centre in Freshwater where the club runs twice a week.
Gruelling exercise session
Students had their combat techniques assessed and had to undertake a gruelling exercise session.
Those tested for higher belts had to show their ability to teach younger students, complete written assignments and show their fitness ability and skill.
Belts were awarded to Cerys Brammall 8 (Red), Tyler Harris 10 (Green), Jacob Thomas 10 (Green), Jess Nelson 12 (Green), Joe Nelson 9 (Green), Justyce Cox 11 (Green), Harvey Cox 9 (Green), Nick Downer (Purple), James Peto 13 (Blue), Kay Fuller (Brown).
Trophies and medals
Eight club members returned also recently returned with trophies and medals following a mix martial arts event in Surrey.
Kay Fuller remained undefeated winning, her bout with ease. While Jason Killingback and Joe Nelson, new to competition, also defeated their challengers in the ring.
First competition for some
It was the first time a number of fighters had competed in a mainland competition with Tyler Harris, Jacob Thomas, Harvey Cox, James Peto and Nick Downer all performing well against strong opponents and receiving trophies.
The Komodo Dragon Kickboxing Club has been in action for 3 years and is proving so popular there is a waiting list for the junior class. Anyone 14 or over who is interested in joining the adult class which runs on a Wednesday and Friday night should contact Terri Harris on 07706 131596. Terri is a former British Title holder and second Dan black belt.
