Remember that six West Wight schools had their broadband cut off?
Well, good news – through the swift actions of the two Island businesses, the schools are now reconnected to the world of the Internet.
Following the appearance of the VentnorBlog story a couple of weeks back, the council clearly felt that having the schools disconnected was getting a little embarrassing, so they contacted Click4Internet and Island Computers to get the schools’ broadband connected again.
Anyone who has tried to get broadband installed will know that this isn’t something that can usually be organised at short notice – it takes time for the order to be processed and then goodness knows how long before the engineer actually turns up.
Happily for all concerned, Click4Internet deliver their Internet services through the air rather than through a slow to install wire. All of this led to them being able to get each of the six schools installed, up and running, live on the Internet again between Monday and Wednesday this week.
Not only have they all been installed in record time, but the Internet service speeds that the schools will receive now are masses faster than their previous ADSL service. Each school will be able to download at 10mb and upload at 5mb up – lightening fast by all standards.
We know how much frustration the teachers and those running the schools felt at the loss of Internet, so there’s likely to be big smiles all round for them when they get back to school on Monday coming.
