A welcome boost to Cowes RNLI lifeboat’s financial buoyancy led lifeboat members to briefly call in to a local High Street shop.
Taking a break from their Sunday training, they went along to clothes retailer, White Stuff, to say a big ‘thank you’ for another donation to the lifeboat from the shop.
The latest gift of £1,150 means that since May 2008 the shop had given the station a total of £3,204.
The money came from the sale of a range of extra items, from garden gnomes to dog and cat bowls and air fresheners, as well through the retention of prices when the government temporarily reduced VAT.
“We are very grateful for the local White Stuff shop for continuing to nominate our lifeboat as their charity,” said lifeboat chairman David Hembury. “The money will go towards both our proposed new lifeboat station at the Old Custom House and crew training.”
