The pop Idol phenomenon has certainly captured the country’s attention over the past few years and the latest rounds of auditions have proved very successful for a pair of dancers from the Isle of Wight.
Comprising Rebecca Kidd and Annabel Randall, both 15 years old from Northwood, Wight Chicks are now competing for a place in the National finals.
If they make it through to become voted winners, they’ll be going on a UK tour and will appear in the video for the Idol 2008 vocal winner’s single.
Rebecca and Annabel, who recently travelled over to Fareham for the auditions told us
When we arrived there was around twenty odd acts getting ready. Because the audition times were staggered, it wasn’t overly crowded.
When we performed, there were two judges in the room, and some other competitors. Around ten acts got in, when we were there.
Our dance was described at ‘Very imaginative’. Our group name turned out to be Wight Chicks – because we’re from the Isle of Wight!
We have now qualified for the regional finals on the 26th of October, and we need as much support as we can get, because the audience casts two votes on who goes through to the National finals.
And support is just what’s needed for these two talented young girls. Part of the deal, is that they need to sell at least 25 tickets to the finals, which take place at Fernham Hall, Fareham on the 26th of October and as they say above, the audience are key in voting them through to the next stage.
Congratulations to the girls who are flying he flag for the Island and we wish them the best of luck in the next rounds.
