The Isle of Wight’s only ladies’ barbershop chorus Wight Satin will be heading off to Wales next week for the annual convention of the Ladies’ Association of British Barbershop Singers (LABBS).
Wight Satin will travel to Llandudno in North Wales next weekend to compete on against 26 other choruses from all over the UK, under the direction of Anita Sides and Shirley Denné.
On Friday 29th, Island Edition, the quartet of ladies from Wight Satin, will also compete in the quartet section of the contest.
We’ll let you know how the get on, but in the meantime hope you’ll join us wishing them luck.
New members welcome
The group are always glad to welcome new members. They rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7.30 until 10pm at Carisbrooke Primary School, Wellington Rd, Newport.
Membership is open to women of all ages, and members don’t have to be able to read music, as long as they can hold a tune they’ll be welcome in our friendly group.
